What happens when someone scans it
The code stores your network name, password and security type in the standard WIFI: format. iPhone (iOS 11+) and Android (10+) camera apps recognise it and show a "Join network" prompt — the guest never sees or types the password.
Use it in a café, Airbnb, office reception, classroom or at home for visitors. Print it on a table card or frame it near the door.
Tips for a WiFi QR code that just works
Type the network name exactly as it appears, including capital letters and spaces. Choose WPA/WPA2 for almost every modern router (WPA3 networks usually accept it too). Pick None only for open networks.
If you change the WiFi password, the old QR code stops working — generate a new one. For guests, consider a separate guest network so the code never exposes your main one.

Frequently asked questions
Is it safe to put my WiFi password in a QR code?
The code is generated locally and never uploaded, but anyone who scans it can join your network — just as if you told them the password. Use a guest network for public places.
Does it work on iPhone?
Yes. Open the Camera app, point it at the code and tap the "Join network" banner. Android 10 and later work the same way.
What if my network is hidden?
Hidden networks are rarely supported by phone cameras. Make the network visible, or have guests add it manually.
