QR Codes for Black Friday and Holiday Promotions: 7 Ideas

By Admin Editor · October 13, 2026

The holiday rush is when your shop has the most visitors and the least time to talk to each of them. A few well-placed QR codes let customers help themselves — and give you trackable results. Here are seven ideas you can set up in an afternoon.

Customer scanning a QR code at a shop counter

1. Window poster → your deals page

Shoppers walk past after closing time. A QR code on the window that opens your Black Friday page turns them into online customers. Add UTM tags with the UTM Builder (utm_medium=qr) so you can see how many scans became visits.

2. Shelf tags → product details and reviews

A small code on the shelf can open the product page with reviews, sizes and stock. Useful when staff are busy.

3. "Order on WhatsApp" for gift orders

A WhatsApp QR code with a pre-filled message like "Hi! I'd like to order a gift box" opens a chat with you instantly — perfect for custom orders, reservations and click-and-collect.

4. Guest WiFi

Customers waiting in a queue or sitting in a café appreciate free WiFi. A WiFi QR code on the counter connects them without asking staff for the password.

5. Gift receipts and packaging → reviews

The holidays bring first-time customers. A code on the receipt or the thank-you card asking for a Google review turns happy buyers into social proof. See How to Make a QR Code for Google Reviews.

6. Business cards and counter cards

Put your contact details in a vCard QR code so corporate gift buyers can save your number in one scan.

7. Email sign-up for January offers

Holiday customers are your best audience for January sales. A code that opens your newsletter sign-up — or an email QR code with a pre-filled "Sign me up" message — keeps the relationship going.

Print tips for busy shops

  • Add a call to action next to every code: "Scan for today's deals".
  • Size: at least 2 × 2 cm on a table card, 10 cm or more on a window poster read from a few meters away.
  • Contrast: dark code on a light background. Festive red on green looks great but may not scan.
  • Test every printed code with two different phones before the rush.
  • Download SVG for large posters so the code stays sharp.

Static codes are fine

Codes from the QR Code Generator are static: free, no expiry, no account. If a deal page changes after the holidays, point the same URL somewhere new (for example, redirect /black-friday to /sale) instead of reprinting.
