Frequently asked questions

What’s the difference between margin and markup?

Both use the same profit. Margin divides it by the selling price; markup divides it by the cost. Buying at 75 and selling at 100 is a 25% margin but a 33.33% markup.

How do I price for a 30% margin?

Divide the cost by (1 − 0.30). A cost of 70 needs a price of 100. Choose “Cost and the margin I want” to do it for you.

Can margin be 100% or more?

No. Margin is a share of the price, so it is always below 100% (unless the cost is zero). Markup has no upper limit.

Does it include tax and fees?

No. Enter cost and price either both before or both after tax, and add shipping, platform or payment fees to the cost if you want them counted.
