Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate the price after a discount?
Multiply the original price by (1 − discount ÷ 100). For example, 20% off €80 is 80 × 0.80 = €64. The calculator does this for you and also shows how much you save.
Why isn’t 20% off plus 10% off the same as 30% off?
The second discount applies to the already-reduced price, not the original. 20% off leaves 80% of the price, and 10% off that leaves 72% — so the total discount is 28%.
How do I find the discount percentage from two prices?
Subtract the sale price from the original, divide by the original price, and multiply by 100. Switch the calculator to “The discount % from two prices” to do it automatically.
Does it work with any currency?
Yes. It works with plain numbers, so use whatever currency you like — the result is in the same currency you entered.
