Frequently asked questions
How much should I tip?
Customs vary by country and by service. In the US 15–20% is common at restaurants, while in many other countries a smaller tip or none at all is normal. Use the percentage that fits where you are.
How do I split a bill with tip?
Add the tip to the bill, then divide the total by the number of people. Enter the number of people above and the calculator shows each person’s share.
What does “round up” do?
It rounds each person’s share up to the next whole amount and adjusts the tip to match, so nobody has to deal with small change.
Is the tip calculated on the bill before or after tax?
That’s a personal choice. Enter the amount you want the tip based on — the pre-tax subtotal or the full bill.
