Frequently asked questions
Which comparison mode should I use?
Use line by line for code, lists and config files. Use word by word for articles, contracts and other prose. Use character by character to spot typos, IDs or small edits.
What does “Ignore whitespace changes” do?
Lines that differ only in spaces or tabs are treated as the same, so re-indented code doesn’t show up as changed.
Is it safe to paste confidential text?
Yes. The comparison runs on your device and nothing is sent anywhere, so it’s fine for contracts, code or private notes.
Is there a size limit?
There is no fixed limit, but extremely long and very different texts may take too long to compare. If that happens the tool tells you — try comparing a smaller section.
