How to Extract Pages From a PDF Into a New File

You have a 200-page report and only need pages 12 to 18. Or a scanned pack of documents where you want to send one form. Extracting pages creates a new, smaller PDF containing just what you choose.

Extract, split or delete?

Three related tasks are easy to confuse:

Extract — build one new PDF from the pages you pick. (This article.)
Split — cut a PDF into several files, for example one per page. See How to Split a PDF Into Separate Pages.

Extracting is like deleting in reverse: you list the pages to keep.

How to extract pages

Open the Extract PDF Pages tool and choose your PDF. It shows how many pages it has.
Enter the pages to keep. You can mix single pages and ranges:
- 5 — page 5 only
- 1-3, 7 — pages 1 to 3, and page 7
- 10- — page 10 to the last page
Click Extract pages and download the new PDF.

Your original stays unchanged; you get a separate file. Everything is processed in your browser, so nothing is uploaded — files up to 50 MB are supported.

Order and duplicates

Extracted pages keep their original order, and listing a page twice includes it once. To change the order afterwards, use Reorder PDF Pages.

A note on document features

Because the tool builds a new PDF from the selected pages, document-level features of the original — such as bookmarks and interactive form fields — may not be carried over. Check the result if you rely on them.

Checking your result

Open the new file and confirm that the pages are the ones you wanted. If the page count looks wrong, re-check the range you typed — a common slip is entering 1-3 when you meant 1, 3.

FAQ

Does extracting reduce the quality? No. Pages are copied as they are, so text and images stay sharp.

Can I extract pages from a protected PDF? Not directly. Remove the password first, then extract.

Is there a page limit? There's no fixed page limit, but the file must be 50 MB or smaller.
