Frequently asked questions
Which compression level should I use?
Use Strong for scanned documents and PDFs full of photos — it usually saves the most. Use Basic for text documents where you need to keep selectable text. Use Extreme when the file must be as small as possible and will only be read on screen.
Why can’t I select text after Strong or Extreme compression?
Those levels re-draw each page as a compressed image, which is what makes them so effective. If you need selectable or searchable text, use Basic.
Why did my PDF barely get smaller?
Text-only PDFs are already compact, so there is little to remove. Big savings come from PDFs that contain scans or large photos.
How do I get a PDF under an upload limit like 2 MB?
Try Strong first. If it’s still too big, try Extreme, or split the PDF into parts with PDF Split and compress each one.
